Texting While Driving - Kills 13 Passengers In A Church Minibus In Houston, TX
Wednesday, March 29, 2017, 20-year-old Jack Dillon Young, of Leakey, Texas was driving a pickup truck on U.S. 83 outside Garner State park in northern Uvalde County, Texas, when he erratically crosses a center line several times while texting before slamming into a church minibus and killing twelve people on the scene. Another bus passenger died at a San Antonio hospital. The church members of The First Baptist Church of New Braunfels, Texas, were returning home from a retreat at the Alto Frio Baptist Encampment in Leakey, about 9 miles from the crash site. The wreck occurred along a curve in the road where the speed limit is 65 mph, according to DPS officials.

ANTWERP, N.Y. — James Mills Jr. of Myerstown, PA, A truck driver was distracted when he plowed into a line of cars stopping for a paving project on a two-way highway in upstate New York which triggered a fiery crash that killed 6 people.
The 18-wheeler was carrying a full load of yogurt when it slammed into an SUV on July 19, setting off a chain reaction that ultimately involved 6 cars. Despite the warnings about the repaving project, He didn't notice the caution signs, which met department standards, until it was too late. James tried to brake before the impact but was unsuccessful. Killed in the SUV that exploded in flames was Laurie Dana, 42, an elementary school speech therapist. Also killed in that vehicle were her two daughters, Caitlyn, 14, and Lauryn, 11, and her mother-in-law, Janet Dana, 69. The fifth victim was Shannon Planty, 14, a friend of Caitlyn's. The driver of the other SUV was identified as Maryann Gregory, 59, who died later that day at the hospital. The lone occupant of a DOT truck involved, Lewis L. Lottie Jr., 54, who was initially listed in critical condition and was fortunate to have survived. |
VANCOUVER - A pilot dies in a plane crash because he was texting while flying.
During a 65-min. flight, a small but well maintained Cessna 185E plane experienced several large altitude deviations varying from 3,500 ft. to 4,600 ft., 3-times during which time, the pilot received 3 text messages and spent 28 min. on his cell phone. He received his last text message 11 min. before his plane's wing clipped a tree, slamming him to the ground and killing him. Not one of his calls were for help. |
